In 2016, People for Urban and Rural Education (PURE) was born from the shared dream of a few like-minded friends. What began as a passionate vision has grown into a movement that is transforming lives across India. PURE is more than a name—it’s a promise to create an inclusive, equitable society through education and community development.

Our journey started with a simple yet profound belief: every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, no matter where they come from. Today, PURE is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization with a network of over 1,000 changemakers dedicated to driving meaningful impact.

PURE operates on a unique model: a volunteer-led approach that keeps administrative costs below 5%. This ensures that every rupee donated reaches the communities that need it most. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration, where sponsors, donors, corporations, and public school teachers join hands to make a difference.

A Mission Rooted in India’s Challenges
India’s children face countless barriers to education—from lack of resources to deep-rooted gender inequality. PURE works tirelessly to bridge these gaps. Our initiatives provide holistic support, including school transformations, scholarships, digital classrooms, and nutrition programs. But we don’t stop there. PURE is committed to empowering girls through menstrual hygiene workshops, bicycles for safe transportation, and efforts to prevent child marriage.
